Columbia University 1980s Vintage Tee
They don't have a fashion major but this will make it seem like they do.
To pay homage to our hometown makers and local process, we welcome the New York Vintage Tee series to The Origin Edit. With no two pieces the same, each rare Vintage Tee has been locally sourced and upcycled with custom screenprinting by the whole team at NAOMI NOMI HQ.
This New York Vintage Tee is originally labeled as a size M. To better understand its fit, here are its dimensions: Bust: 36", Length: 29". Just remember: each Vintage Tee is a 1:1 edition in its own singular size, with its own singular spectacular imperfections.
This collection celebrates NAOMI NOMI's hometown pride.
We chose the highest quality tees - featuring logos of iconic destinations, former political campaigns, and historical events - that we think best exudes the spirit of our city.
Does the screenprint on The Origin Tees look familiar? Probably because it's a nod to the origin tags tucked inside every NAOMI NOMI garment.
As a brand founded by makers, manufacturing locally embodies our principle, our raison de vivre, and the heart on our sleeves (or chest, rather).
This campaign features New York's finest - our labelmakers, seamstresses, cutters, button guys, and more - that we're lucky to call our partners. Producing & partnering locally in NYC is something we're deeply proud of, because it allows us to guarantee the highest standards of garment quality, team conditions, and overall ethical execution of every part of our process.
Why do we do it?
Recycling = Breaking something down into raw materials that are reused.
Upcycling = Revitalizing something in its current form.
The average American throws out 81lbs of clothing every year, so we only make new clothes when what we need doesn't already exist. Each Vintage Tee was hand-selected for its quality before adding our special touch with our screenprinted battle cry.
We wrangled the full NAOMI NOMI team to screen print each of these tees.
An ancient technique, silkscreen printing involves stretching a taught silk mesh stencil over a garment, then pressing ink down into it to create a design. There's no room for mistakes, and this team - as usual - nailed it.
