Diving into the dumpster for eight weeks of work that was meant to be thrown out.
Dumpster, 2 sheets of 8 x 4 foot dry wall woven together, spackle, fiberglass tape
Museum of Arts and Design; New York, NY
As an Artist in Residence at New York City’s Museum of Arts and Design, I wove together two large sheets of drywall, creating a sculptural architectural textile. Once the weaving was complete, I was granted a permit from the City of New York, leased a trash dumpster, situated it beside the museum on the public sidewalk and disposed of the sculpture therein. The woven drywall, draped over the side of the orange steel dumpster, remained on the museum’s sidewalk for a week until it was taken away by a carting company.
