What it is:
A lightweight, long-lasting fiber made from the cannabis sativa plant (don't worry, you won't get a contact high).
How it feels:
Durable but soft...really soft actually, and it gets even softer with age.
Why we love it:
Its impact on the planet is next to nothing while its potential uses are basically infinite.
Hemp has the power to: yield up to 1300lb of fiber/acre (that’s incredibly productive fyi), grow prosperously sans pesticides, herbicides, or fertilizers, uses very little water, can be harvested within 100 days of being planted, and grow for up to 20 years straight in the same location without need for crop rotation or soil replenishment.
Yes and no, but mostly no. Hemp that’s grown for fibers and seeds is called “industrial hemp” and doesn’t contain anywhere near the same amount of THC as recreational hemp. Sorry.
Our hemp denim is comprised of 45% 55% hemp grown and harvested in China and 45% OSC Certified organic cotton grown in India & dyed in China. The Chinese have the longest history of hemp cultivation (6000 years!!), so you could say they know a thing or two.
Wear our hemp denim whenever you would opt for a standard denim or chambray, and enjoy our fabric’s (in our not so humble opinion) superior feel and softness.
It’s best to dry clean our hemp denim, but it’s also, okay to hand wash in cold water. Hang to dry. Use a warm iron as desired.
The U.S. Constitution and the Declaration of Independence were written on hemp paper.
Hemp can eliminate toxins and radioactive materials. In the wake of the Chernobyl disaster, scientists planted hemp in contaminated soil. It removed chemicals and absorbed heavy metals better than any other plant.
When harvested correctly, hemp’s fiber is stronger than steel.
