The Shirtdress
Sterling & Silver Merino Wool
$378
It's a shirt. It's a dress. It's a coat. It's a wearable blanket. And it has four pockets. With locally-sourced, silver-inset corozo buttons.
Nya, pictured here, has a 30" bust, 23.5" waist, and 36" hip and wears a size Small. With those measurements, she could also fit comfortably in an XS.
Because we didn't want to have to choose between effortless, beautiful, and practical.
Layer it over a sweater, wear it like a wooly duster, or as a simple dress. No matter the occasion, it’s an easy decision that comes off as the most calculated choice.
Inspired by artists' smocks and oversized boys' button-downs, The Shirtdress is classic, elegant, and deeply practical.
Two side pockets can handle your phone, wallet, charger, and keys. The breast pocket is where we keep our chapstick and phone. And the front patch pocket is large enough to hold a journal so you can quickly jot down your many moments of genius.
Made in the oldest operating textile mill in Germany, our merino wool is soft, strong, and woven to keep you warm for decades. An excellent heat regulator, merino is extremely breathable and adjusts to changes in your body temperature throughout the day. It's also incredibly wrinkle-resistant, moisture-wicking, and odor-repelling, so you don't need to wash it after every use. You can learn more about this wonder-fiber and our suppliers’ compassionate sheep-care practices below.
Because it's incredibly odor-repelling and moisture-wicking, merino does not need to be washed after every use. That's great news because the majority of a garment's impact on our environment comes not from its production, but from its time spent being washed. As long as you're not doing aerobics classes in it, you can get away with dry cleaning this dress once or twice a season.
No plastic here. The corozo nut, also called the tagua nut, is a natural material commonly used for carving. That makes it perfect for the tiny sculptures that are shirt buttons. As an added touch, we dye ours black and finish them with a silver-plated rim.
